Sun Screen is made by Scalus App, a registered business name of TMC MEDIA PTY LTD, ABN 26 660 757 415 (we, us). By buying or using Sun Screen you agree to these terms and to Apple's standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement, which applies to every app sold on the App Store.

The purchase

Sun Screen is a one time purchase through the Mac App Store. There is no subscription and no account. Apple handles the payment, the receipt and any refund under its own App Store terms. The price you see on the App Store is the price you pay, set by Apple for your country.

Updates

Updates to Sun Screen are included with your purchase at no extra charge for as long as we maintain the app. We reserve the right to change, pause or stop releasing updates, to change which Macs and versions of macOS the app supports, or to withdraw the app from sale, at any time and without notice. The version you have installed keeps working as it is, subject to changes Apple makes to macOS that are outside our control.

What it needs

Sun Screen only works on a 14 inch or 16 inch MacBook Pro with Apple silicon (2021 M1 Pro and M1 Max onwards) using its built in Liquid Retina XDR display, on macOS Tahoe or later. It does not work on other Macs or on external displays. The MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display opens the app but has no boost to give. Please check this before you buy.

Using the boost

Sun Screen uses the brightness headroom Apple builds into the display, through Apple's public interfaces, and macOS stays in control of the panel. A brighter screen uses more battery and can run warmer; the app stops the boost on low battery by default and you can change that. You use the boost at your own discretion. We are not responsible for battery use, heat, or any change Apple makes to macOS that alters how the display behaves.

Sun Screen never connects to the internet, has no account, no analytics and no tracking. See the privacy policy.

Your rights

Nothing in these terms takes away any guarantee or right you have under the Australian Consumer Law or an equivalent consumer law where you live. Beyond those rights, Sun Screen is provided as is, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for any loss arising from its use.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version always lives at this address.
